Performed diagnostic on split Lennox system. TXv is bad. Has 12-14 deg subcool, but superheat is bouncing between 1-5 degrees. Will need to order and come back to replace under warranty.
Performed last visit AC tune up. Compressor amps draw was pulling on the higher end of specification, metering device may have trouble working properly, Hard start was out of tolerance, Contactor was making buzzing noise, and no power protection. Installed new Contactor, Hard start kit, and Surge protectors for both outdoor and indoor units, and Blower motor capacitor. Outdoor coil is washed clean, condensation drain lines are clear, and filter is still good. System is operational. Renewing Superhero club membership today and will have two more visits left.
Found carrier system to be low on R22. Head pressure seemed high. Checked evaporators coils blower wheel, both areas looked clean. Condenser coils look clean as well. System is a fixed orifice. System looks to have restrictions in lines somewhere. Gave homeowner heads up. Filled system with R22, system has 19 degree temp split. System is a three ton in 2300sqft home. Wants estimate for new system.
